HELP FOR INSTALLATION AND USE:

1. INSTALLATION:

After Crypto starts automatically post-installation, the following window appears:

It shows that Crypto is connecting to the Skype network. At the same time, Skype ™ displays the following dialog box in the bottom-right area of the screen near the Windows system tray:

This is Skype’s ™ way to ensure that the software accessing Skype ™ is legitimate. If you miss this window, you can accept this request later by clicking on the Red Flag indicating a missed event in the main Skype ™ screen.

Click on "Click here to accept/deny..." to enable Crypto to access the Skype Network. This is required for Crypto to work.

Skype’s ™ main window will like this:

Click on the " LFCryptoChat4Skype.exe...." link. The following window appears:

Select "Allow this program to use Skype" then click “OK”

Crypto can now access Skype’s ™ Network and you are ready to exchange Encryption Keys to start using CryptoChat4Skype.

2. CREATING AND EXCHANGING ENCRYPTION KEYS:

Crypto uses RSA asymmetric cryptography encryption algorithm (1024 bits) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public-key_cryptography) to protect your instant messaging communication via Skype ™ . This requires each Crypto user to generate encryption keys and exchange them with their Crypto buddies by following these simple steps:

· Open Crypto and select the target user in the contact list on the left:

· Click on the Key button in the toolbar( ): Crypto generates an encryption key and displays the following dialog box that allows the user to select the key transmission mechanism:

Crypto supports three ways of sending encryption keys:

o EMAIL METHOD: This is low security method where the key is sent to the target user as an email attachment. When the user receives the email, she has to copy and paste the key into Crypto by clicking on the Import button ( );

o WEBSERVER METHOD: This is the most straightforward and secure way to send encryption keys: Crypto sends the key directly to the Crypto instance running on the target user's computer using Crypto's own 1024 bit encryption mechanism.

o SNAIL METHOD: This is the most secure method although it is the least practical. Crypto saves the encryption key on a removable support such as USB key, floppy or cd-rom. The user then overnights the key to the target user who will manually import it into Crypto using copy and paste by clicking on the Import button ( );

The following icons represent the three transmission key mechanisms supported by Crypto:

The Trashcan command deletes the current key for the selected user. It is a good practice to generate a new key every now and then for increased security.

The Erase command clears all decrypted messages for the selected user.

3. USE OF THE “CRYPTO UTLITIES” (version 1.0.0.3 and above)

“CRYPTO UTILITIES” are addons to CryptoChat 4 Skype that you can access by right-clicking on the Crypto icon in the Windows system tray (see picture)

or from the apposite Crypto's menu:

1) “Print screen (your Desktop) and send a friend”: allows you to take a snapshot of your screen and sent it to a contact using Skype's send file mechanism. This is particularly useful for help desk scenarios or to share application data that cannot be easily saved to disk ;

2) “Crypt and Send a file to a friend”: allows you to encrypt a file and send it to one of your Crypto's friends using the same mechanism used by Crypto to secure your chat conversations. It even reuses the existing encryption key you already set up with your friend. You can also encrypt multiple files at once by zipping them first into a single archive.

Note that only the original sender and recipient of the encrypted files will be able to correctly decrypt and open them.

3) “Decrypt a file” : allows you to decrypt a file that was sent to you using Crypto's Crypt and Send a File to a friend;

All the commands above are available via the Crypto menu as well. The application menu also includes the ? command which gives the user access to the CRYPTO WEB SITE, BLOG, USERS FORUM, APPLICATION UPDATE, PROGRAM'S ABOUTS and THE DONATION PAGE:
